An iconic golden age cinema in Ximending established on the site of Taihoku Ei-za (臺北榮座) in 1951. It was an immense theater with seating for 1,600. In the late 1980s the space was subdivided into two halls to better cater to changing customer habits, but it was not enough, and the theater closed in 1994.
