Taitung Hai’an Railway Station

A vanished freight terminus on the Taitung Coast Line (台東海岸線) established in 1929. It was intended to circumvent the absence of a deep-water port in colonial Taitung City, where shipping companies had resorted to ferrying passengers and cargo from offshore anchorages. It remained in use until June 1982 when the East Coast Line gauge-conversion project rendered the spur redundant. The station site was later occupied by a Taitung County Farmers’ Association feed mill before being demolished in 2015.
