Established in 1742, this temple venerates Sanshan Guowang (三山國王), deities of particular importance to the Chaozhou and Guangdong regions of China. It was constructed by merchants from Guangdong and served as both a temple and place of gathering for Teochew (people of Chaozhou) in Tainan. Although the style is not uncommon across southeast Asia it is highly unusual to see in Taiwan and, as such, it has been designated a national monument.
