Yùlǐ 玉里 is a small historic town in the central Huadong Valley of eastern Taiwan. Traditionally home to the Amis and Bunun people, it was settled by Han Chinese after the opening of the Batongguan Trail in 1875, and prospered throughout much of the 19th century as the primary transportation hub in the region. Nowadays it is mainly known for tourism.
