The intake for the Babao Canal (八堡圳), Taiwan’s oldest irrigation system, originally built in 1709–1719 by Shi Shibang (施世榜) to irrigate the Changhua Plain with waters diverted from Zhuoshui River. The current intake structure dates to 1932 and splits the flow into two channels, the original Shicuo Canal (施厝圳) heading northwest to irrigate most of Changhua, and the Shiwuzhuang Canal (十五庄圳) flowing southwest toward Tianzhong and Ershui. A completion monument stands nearby. Registered as a historic building in 2006.
