Founded in 1964 by Dr. Hong Yixiong (洪義雄) as Ershui’s second modern theater. Located in Guanghua Village (光化村), this red brick and stone-washed building occupies around 500 square meters of real estate. It competed fiercely with the older Chenggong Theater, spending freely on first-run prints and courting the town’s children with special effects fantasies such as Sun Wukong Battles the Bull Demon King (孫悟空大戰牛魔王) and the Japanese kaiju feature Mothra vs. Godzilla. Both cinemas closed some time in the 1980s as home television proliferated and rural population declined. The shell of the theater is now occupied by Xinyiye Industrial (新一燁工業股份有限公司), a plastics and mould manufacturer, and allegedly nothing of the brick and stone-washed structure remains.
