The top-ranking colonial era official residence in Pingtung City, built by the Takishi Group of Takao between 1917 and 1919 as the second-generation Akō Sub-prefect’s Residence (阿緱廳廳長官邸). Following the 1921 administrative reorganization it became the residence of the Pingtung magistrate under Takao Prefecture. The building was designed with a Western façade conjoined with a traditional Japanese wooden residence at the rear. Designated a county historic building in 2003 and opened to the public in 2016, the compound is now used intermittently for community events and arts exhibitions.
