Completed in 1937, this was the official residence of the commander of the Japanese air force wing stationed in Pingtung City. After the war it was the official residence of General Sun Li-jen (孫立人) for several years before he was put under house arrest in Taichung. For this reason it is also known as the General Sun Li-jen Guesthouse (孫立人將軍行館), although there is some ongoing confusion about the various official names of this building.
