Deji Power Plant

Deji Power Plant is an underground hydroelectric station at Deji Dam (德基水壩) on the upper reaches of the Dajia River (大甲溪) in Heping District, Taichung. Completed in 1974, the 180 meter arch dam is still the tallest in Taiwan, and the plant it feeds generates 234 MW, second only to Qingshan Power Plant among the stations along the river. The dormitory area built for staff was remote enough to warrant a fully equipped movie theater, now gone, though its two projectors, acquired second-hand, are on display at the Dajia River Power Museum (白冷大甲溪電力文物館) next to Tianlun Power Plant.
