Built in 1963 within Fushoushan Farm (福壽山農場) after Chiang Kai-shek took a liking to the fengshui of the site. The name expresses a wish for longevity and good fortune. Chiang visited every summer, arriving by helicopter at a private landing pad, and reportedly said this villa was for “nurturing the spirit” (怡情養性), in contrast to Daguan Pavilion (達觀亭), which was for contemplating national affairs.
