The principal Mazu temple of Dounan, founded in 1736 when the Chen family brought a statue of the Holy Second Mother (聖二媽) from Meizhou in Fujian. The original building was forcibly demolished in 1940 under the Kōminka movement (皇民化運動) though its Mazu idol was secreted away by the local community. In the post-war era the temple was rebuilt at its current site and consecrated in 1972. The resident Mazu is popularly known as Pickled Radish Mazu (菜脯媽) for the many pickled vegetable stalls surrounding the temple.
