A Mazu temple in Wuqi, founded in 1856 by a guild of Hokkien rice merchants and moved to its present site in 1864 after the original location was expropriated for the Wuqi Customs House. It is known locally as the Outer Mazu Temple (外媽祖廟) to distinguish it from the older Hakka-affiliated Haotian Temple (浩天宮) further inland. The founding Mazu idol is said to have been brought from Meizhou by a Qing dynasty salt official in the early 19th century. Its annual procession (梧棲走大轎), in which teams of bearers sprint a palanquin back and forth between local temples, was registered as a folk cultural asset in 2012.
