One of 35 villages established in 1955 to accommodate Dachen Islanders after their retreat to Taiwan. Originally there were 138 households and 574 residents, while employment in sugarcane cultivation was provided by the state-owned sugar company for a time. Nearly all villages have emigrated as conditions in this area are tough, and the land is still state-owned. Pingshui Yuwang Temple (平水禹王廟) still acts as a center of faith and place of reunion.
