Chaozhou Police Temple (潮州警察廟) - Spectral Codex

A small folk temple inside the grounds of the main police station in Chaozhou, Pingtung. Its origins can be traced to November 2023, when a farmer turned in five abandoned deities he found, and no temple would take the soot-blackened figures. Officers kept and worshipped them, building a shrine under the station’s old banyan tree once the public notice period lapsed, enshrining them in 2004. The gods’ niche was once pasted with fuel cards believed to grant unlimited petrol, while a 2008 rebuild added a “duty desk” where the deities rotate weekly shifts. Alongside stands a General’s Mansion (將軍府) honoring the restless dead tied to the site, including local gentry killed in the 228 Incident, and incoming precinct chiefs still report for duty here on taking office.
