Taipei 228 Peace Memorial Park (台北二二八和平公園) - Spectral Codex
台北二二八和平公園

Originally established on the former site of Datianhou Temple (臺北大天后宮) as Taihoku Park in 1903, this is the oldest large public park in Taiwan. It became the flashpoint of the 228 Incident on 28 February 1947, when crowds stormed the Taipei Broadcasting Bureau (台北放送局) to broadcast their grievances against the KMT administration, igniting island-wide uprisings. The 1930 broadcasting building survives as the Taipei 228 Memorial Museum, inaugurated in 1996 along with a renaming of the surrounding park by then-mayor Chen Shui-bian.
