Established by Li Shanggen (李上根) in 1946, the Taichung branch of this left-wing ROC newspaper was initially associated with the military but many of its reporters were still arrested during the tumult of the 228 Incident in 1947 all the same. The building, originally an ice factory in the late Japanese colonial era, was finally demolished in 2025.
