Xiaogang Fengxian Temple (小港鳳仙祠) - Spectral Codex

An unusual shrine venerating a stone toad, tucked into a cemetery in the hills of Luotuoshan (駱駝山) and reached on foot. The main altar hosts a toad with a coin pinned beneath its foot; in Taiwanese the word for toad (蟾蜍) is homophonous with “grabbing money”, making it a charm for wealth. Its origins are undocumented but it was likely built in the 1980s during the lottery craze (大家樂), when gamblers came yin (dark energy) sites to pray for winning numbers. Semi-abandoned today but still accessible from the nearby cemetery, the high ground gives views over Linyuan, although it is technically within Xiaogang.
