Established in 1908 and originally known as Gobirin Sugar Factory (後壁林製糖所). It was heavily bombed during the war and did not resume production until 1948. Sugar production ceased in 1983 as surrounding farmland was converted to industrial use, while the factory was repurposed for refining, oil processing, and feed production. Taiwan Sugar Corporation continues to operate this plant into the mid-2020s.
