An old Japanese colonial era residence in Wujie, Yilan. It was later the home of Lin Yi-hsiung (林義雄), a lawyer who was arrested and imprisoned in the aftermath of the Kaohsiung Incident. His mother and twin daughters were stabbed to death at home on February 28th, 1980, a murder case that remains unsolved despite the obvious symbolism involved. Lin was later released from prison and went on to become a prominent DPP politician and driver of Taiwan’s democratization. His childhood residence in Erjie was converted into a memorial hall for his slain family members in the mid-1990s and is now recognized for its heritage value.
