Luodong Forestry Culture Park

Established on the former site of a major Japanese colonial era timber processing plant, the lowland yard of Taipingshan Forestry District. Logs felled in the mountains from 1915 were at first floated down the Lanyang River, with most accounts placing the main depot at Yuanshan (員山), although the pond here, Songluopi (松羅埤), is reported to have stored timber as early as 1916. From January 1924 logs arrived by the Luodong Forest Railway (羅東森林鐵道) and the forestry office moved here with them. This park surrounds the timber pond and features the rebuilt Luodong Zhulin Railway Station, storage warehouses, and other infrastructure. It was listed as a historic asset cluster in 2004 and reopened as the Luodong Forestry Culture Park in 2009, with cultural landscape status added in 2012.
