Completed in 1940, this civilian seaplane facility became Taiwan’s second international airport, also known as Bizitou Seaplane Base (鼻仔頭水上機場). While passenger service linking Taiwan to Japan and Thailand operated for a brief period, it was expropriated by the Japanese military in 1943 and contributed to the war effort. The site is still an active military installation so it isn’t open to the public and can only be viewed from the shoreline to the north. Nowadays little remains of the former airport apart from some of the landscaping and a series of air raid shelters.
