Built between 1916 and 1921 for the manager and staff of the Bank of Taiwan’s branch in Tamsui, these dormitories passed to Hua Nan Bank when the branch closed in 1944 and returned to the Bank of Taiwan in 1951. A developer leasing the land demolished three of the four buildings overnight in 2004, months after local historians had applied for their protection. The surviving house, unusually large for a Japanese colonial era dormitory, was designated a municipal monument in 2011, and while restoration began in 2020, it does not seem to have finished by 2025.
