Standing by 1914 behind Fuyou Temple (福佑宮), this Japanese wooden house became the residence of the police section chief of Tamsui District (淡水郡) during the Japanese colonial era. After the war it housed successive heads of the Tamsui police precinct until the last occupants moved out, and it was registered as a historic building in 2007. Restored around 2019, it now opens to the public as the Tamsui Former Japanese Police Officer Dormitory.
