A square steel-frame light tower erected in 1951 in the water off Tamsui as the front leading light (淡水港前導燈), which paired with a rear light to mark the safe channel into the harbour. Road reclamation along the riverbank in the 1980s left it standing on land beside the ferry pier, and in 1995, with the port no longer in commercial use, it was downgraded from a leading light to a simple light pole. Repainted many times since, most recently in bands of yellow, green, and white in 2016, it was registered as a historic building in 2023.
