Nippon Kangyo Bank Tainan Branch (原日本勸業銀行臺南支店) - Spectral Codex
Nippon Kangyo Bank Tainan Branch (原日本勸業銀行臺南支店)

An impressive bank building completed in 1937, designed by the bank’s own architectural division and built by Shimizu Corporation (清水組). Its Egyptian-inspired colonnade with fluted Doric-style columns and chrysanthemum motifs is nearly identical to the Taipei branch next to 228 Peace Park. Diagonally opposite Hayashi Department Store (林百貨), the building lost its west-facing colonnade to a 1983 road widening. Designated a municipal monument in 1998, it continues to operate as the Taiwan Land Bank Tainan Branch (臺灣土地銀行台南分行).
