A stone riverside wharf of about 150 meters on the Tamsui River, part of the customs complex established in 1862 when Tamsui opened as one of the treaty ports forced open after the Second Opium War. It is the same wharf overseen by the Customs Commissioner’s Residence in the heights above. The Japanese colonial government filled and rebuilt the waterfront, adding an inspection station, a two-storey Western-style office, and two brick warehouses built between 1925 and 1930. The military took over the site after the war but eventually relinquished control to the public. It was designated a monument in 2000, restored in 2012, and is now open to the public under the Tamsui Historical Museum (新北市立淡水古蹟博物館).
