Tainan Houjia Qinglong Temple (台南後甲開基慶隆廟) - Spectral Codex

A temple dedicated to General Xie Yongchang (謝永常), a military officer serving under the pirate-king Koxinga, in the Houjia area of East Tainan. It was established in the 1960s after his bones were discovered during the construction of a nearby school. The altar holds two further martial figures: General Zhao Sheng (趙勝將軍) and the deified Japanese colonel Yoshihara Kozo (吉原小造), reputedly an officer under Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa (北白川宮能久親王) who died in Anping during the Yiwei War, the Japanese invasion of 1895. Yoshihara has since been sinicized as Xie Jiyuan (謝吉原) and counted among the temple’s Xie family of deities.
