Established in a large mixed-use complex in 1966, this was once among the most upscale and luxurious theaters in Taichung. After a fire broke out in the neighboring Lianmei Theater (聯美大戲院) it was renovated and absorbed into this operation, eventually reopening with eight cinema halls, the largest of which could accommodate 700 viewers. It briefly converted to a secund-run theater in 2002 in an attempt to stop the bleeding, but didn’t manage to last much more than another year as SARS struck Taiwan. Since then the theater has been abandoned, though parts of the rest of the building is still in use.
