The first-generation martial arts hall in Taichung (大日本武德會臺中支部武德殿) was completed in 1913 and located southwest of Taichung Park (台中公園). Due to changes in urban planning it was slated for destruction in 1930 but was instead relocated to Yuanlin where it was repurposed for use as a temple (金鳳山員林寺). In 1995 this structure was again threatened with demolition but it was salvaged and transported to Taiwan Folk Village (台灣民俗村), where it was never reassembled. The ultimate fate of the remaining pieces is unknown.
