Tianmu White House (天母白屋) - Spectral Codex
Tianmu White House (天母白屋)

This modest residence was originally built for US Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) personnel stationed in Taiwan. It was completed in 1953 and closely resembles housing typical of American suburbs and even includes a fireplace. After the Americans withdrew from Taiwan in the late 1970s it was turned over to the Bank of Taiwan (臺灣銀行) and neglected over subsequent decades. The structure later became a flashpoint for cultural preservation efforts in Tianmu, eventually earning official recognition as a heritage structure in 2005. It was lightly restored and opened to the public around 2018 but after the contract ran out it has become idle once more. Despite the name it only acquired its iconic white exterior during the shooting of The Magicians of Love (愛情魔髮師), a television drama, in 2006.
