Built in 1934 on Yangmingshan and designed by Ide Kaoru (井手薰), the architect behind the Governor-General’s Office and Taipei Public Hall. After the war it served various police functions including occasional use as a special security command post for visiting dignitaries. Facing demolition in 2012 when the New Taipei City Finance Bureau sought to reclaim the land, it was saved when Taipei City registered it as a historic building in 2014. It is undergoing restoration in mid-2026 and is not yet open to the public.
