A Japanese colonial era dormitory built around 1930, tucked into an alley beside the former Caoshan Imperial Guesthouse (草山御賓館). Its original occupants and purpose are unknown, but after the war it became staff housing for the Institute of Revolutionary Practice (革命實踐研究院), a KMT ideological training body whose employees formed a tight-knit community resembling a military dependents’ village along Xinyuan Street. The compound remains largely intact behind and was registered as a historic building in 2022. It is undergoing restoration work as of mid-2026.
