Completed in 1940 in Minxiong as a high-power transmitting station of the Taipei Broadcasting Bureau, built during the Japanese colonial era to counter radio broadcasts from China. Suzuoki Ryoichi (鈴置良一) designed the station, whose 100 kW transmitter and two 206 meter antenna towers reached as far as Southeast Asia and Jiangsu. After the war it carried broadcasts aimed at China. It opened as the National Broadcasting Museum (國家廣播文物館) in 1999 and was registered as a historic building in 2001.
