Língyǎ (苓雅), formerly Língyáliáo (苓仔寮), or “fishing net shed” in Taiwanese, is an inner city district in Kaohsiung and the seat of city government. In July 2014 a massive gas explosion tore through the district and neighboring Qianzhen, killing 32 and injuring over 300.
