Gushan (鼓山) - Spectral Codex

Gǔshān (鼓山) is a coastal district in western Kaohsiung named for Dagoushan (打鼓山), a Sinification of the Makatao name Takao (打狗) that eventually gave rise to the name Kaohsiung itself. The district encompasses Shoushan (壽山) and the Xīzǐwān (西子灣) waterfront. Remnants of the Takao Shrine (高雄神社) survive on the hillside, and the restored Martial Arts Hall (武德殿) nearby is among the finest in Taiwan.
