The smaller of two forts built after the Mudan Incident of 1874 to guard the entrance to Takao Harbour, facing Qihou Fort across the channel on Cijin Island. It was laid out by British instructor J.W. Harwood and completed in 1876 on the Shaochuantou (哨船頭) waterfront in Gushan. Its entrance is a red brick gate in the style of a Chinese city wall, topped by five crenellations and a lintel inscribed with the fort’s name. The fort fell to Japanese forces during the Yiwei War in 1895 and was restored between 2018 and 2022.
