Changhua (彰化) is a roughly triangular county bordering the sprawling city of Taichung to the north, the mountainous Nantou to the east, Yunlin to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the west. Its capital is the eponymous Changhua City, located where the foothills the Bagua Mountains merge with the broad and fertile plains, while Yuanlin is its most prosperous and fastest-growing urban center. Lukang is undoubtedly the foremost attraction in Changhua; this historic coastal town was one of the most important centers of trade and commerce for much of the Qing dynasty era.
