Allegedly the last remaining brick kiln in Penghu, founded in 1962 by Li Yongyang (李永陽) as Penghu Brick Factory (澎湖磚廠). Its three climbing kilns (登窯) and 33 meter-tall concrete chimney supplied much of the red brick used in the archipelago’s building boom of the 1970s and 1980s. Stricter air pollution controls and cheaper bricks shipped from Taiwan gradually forced the factory out of business by 1994. The site now appears to be in ruins.
