A sugar factory established by Yuancheng Farm, a division of the Sanwu Company (三五公司), which brought Japanese settlers from Gifu, Kumamoto, and Niigata to cultivate the area starting in 1909. An improved sugar mill was built in 1910, then replaced by a modern factory completed in December 1933 with a daily capacity of 350 tons. Operations ceased on August 31, 1944, when the colonial government ordered the farm’s closure due to wartime material shortages. Nothing remains of the original factory but some staff dormitories can still be found in a settlement to the east.
