The principal monument commemorating the 1919 to 1921 construction of the Batongguan Traversing Trail (八通關越道路), now displayed under glass in front of the Yushan National Park visitor center at Nan-an (南安) in Zhuoxi. Erected at the eastern section’s completion ceremony before the Yuli Shinto Shrine (玉里神社) in January 1921, the stone records the project’s dates, distance, cost, manpower, and casualties. Removed after the war and reused as a slab bridge over an irrigation ditch, it was recovered in 1988 by the trail historian Yang Nan-jun (楊南郡).
