A Japanese colonial era police garrison (駐在所) established to monitor Bunun communities in the area. The stone-walled compound once included a medical clinic, trading post, and reception area. In the post-war era it became a police station under the new name Zhuoqing (卓清) but this was disbanded in 2000. The station was briefly revitalize as a checkpoint in 2010 before falling into disuse. The site also contains a displaced BM31 benchmark stone (BM31號水準點) from the Taiwan Governor-General’s Bureau of Transportation (臺灣總督所交通局遞信部), suggesting relocation from its original position along Batongguan Traversing Trail (八通關越道路). Qingshui would have likely been known as Kiyomizu in the original Japanese.
