A two-story Western-style brick mansion with an attached Japanese-style wooden wing, originally built as the official residence of the governer of the Bank of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era and possibly designed by Nomura Ichirō (野村一郎). After the war it was occupied by Yen Chia-kan (嚴家淦), who served as chairman of the Bank of Taiwan, premier, and eventually fifth President of the Republic of China following the death of Chiang Kai-shek in 1975. The property sits inside the heavily restricted Bo’ai Special Zone (博愛特區) surrounding the Presidential Office and is not open to the public.
