A late Renaissance-style building designed by Moriyama Matsunosuke (森山松之助) and completed in 1915, originally serving as the Taihoku Prefecture Office (臺北廳) and later the Taihoku State Office (臺北州廳) after the 1920 administrative reorganization. The red brick structure has an L-shaped floor plan anchored by a copper-domed entrance rotunda rising 15 meters over a grand hall supported by Tuscan columns. After 1945 it briefly housed the Taiwan Provincial Government before becoming the seat of the ROC Control Yuan (監察院) in 1958. Designated a national monument in 1998, it is open to the public on Friday mornings and afternoons.
