Completed in 1912 but expanded over subsequent decades, this striking building was the headquarters of the monopoly bureau in the Japanese colonial era. After the war it was renamed the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Monopoly Bureau and continues to serve pretty much the same function as before.
