Taiwan’s first contemporary art museum, opened in Zhongshan, Taipei, in August 1983. It occupies the former grounds of the United States Taiwan Defense Command, and was designed by architect Kao Er-Pan as a local interpretation of Metabolism, a Japanese architectural movement that emerged in the 1960s.
