Originally established in 1914 as Yuanshan Zoo (圓山動物園). In the late 1980s the zoo was relocated to its current site in Muzha and the former site was converted into Yuanshan Children’s Amusement Park (圓山兒童樂園) and folk village known as Yesterday’s World (昨日世界). In 2011 the park was relocated to Shilin District and the facilities fell into ruin in the early 2010s, arousing the attention of the urban exploration community in Taiwan. In the 2020s much of the site was cleaned up and redesignated Yuanshan Natural Landscape Park (圓山自然景觀公園) while the previously abandoned planetarium (太空劇場), also known as Tomorrow’s World (明日世界), is being repurposed into a museum as of 2025.
