A Buddhist temple built in 1965 in a Tang dynasty style at the highest point of the lakeshore road on the southern side of Sun Moon Lake (日月潭), where it enshrines a relic of the monk Xuanzang (玄奘) returned to Taiwan from Japan in 1955. It also houses a gilded statue of Shakyamuni (釋迦牟尼) and a plaque from Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石) reading “National Treasure” (國之瑰寶). The temple sits near the trailhead to Ci’en Pagoda.
