A former residence on the Hanbi Peninsula of Sun Moon Lake (日月潭), originally built in 1916 and relocated to higher ground in 1928 as a two-storey cypress building. In the post-war era it became one of Chiang Kai-shek’s many retreats, this one generally known as Riyue Guesthouse (日月行館). It was expanded into a four-storey modern hotel in 1966 but this, along with the original Japanese wooden structure, was destroyed by the 921 Earthquake in 1999. The remaining timbers were salvaged to help restore an adjacent martial arts hall subsequently renamed Hanbilou Memorial Hall (涵碧樓紀念館) in 2002. Brick and mortar fragments of the original Hanbilou can still be found somewhere around the memorial hall.
