This mysterious round structure handles excess water when the level of Sun Moon Lake is too high. Originally it drained into Shuili River, but nowadays any overflow is channeled toward Daguan Power Plant. It has various other names in Chinese such as overflow outlet (溢水口) and sky-well (天井). Although access is prohibited by a gate you can get close to the structure and appreciate its impressive 24 meter-wide span from the nearby footpath.
