Established on Maolan Mountain (貓囒山) in 1936 as the Taiwan Governor’s Office Central Research Institute Yuchi Black Tea Experimental Branch (臺灣總督府中央研究所魚池紅茶試驗支所). It still operates under the aegis of the Executive Yuan to this very day. Although it is a designated historic property it might not be open to the public without prior appointment.
